2026 Diwali dates (Australia)

• Dhanteras: Friday 6 November 2026
• Diwali (Deepavali): Sunday 8 November 2026
• Bhai Dooj: Tuesday 10 or Wednesday 11 November 2026, depending on local observance

Diwali is not a public holiday in Australia. Most workplaces and couriers run a normal schedule around it. Diwali orders open until Sunday 8 November.

I pack these boxes in Truganina. The soap is wrapped separately so the tea and curry leaves don't pick up its scent. If you want the method behind the soap (melt-and-pour, not cold process), see our handmade soap Australia guide.

Diwali orders

Diwali orders open until Sunday 8 November. Delivery times vary by location, and rural areas can take up to 10 business days.

Gifts by budget

• Under $10: dried curry leaves $7 · Darjeeling loose leaf $7.50 · handmade lavender soap $7
• Under $20: any two of the above ($14, $14.50), or the ready Diwali Gift Box at $20
• Under $40: the $20 Diwali Gift Box, or the $35 gift pack (includes moringa powder, so say that clearly on the card if you send it)

Small Diwali hampers under $40

A Diwali hamper doesn't need to be a giant basket.

• Cook's hamper: a 30g pouch of dried curry leaves plus a handwritten tadka note, or curry leaf snack jars for friends. Pair with our 30-minute curry leaf dal if they like a recipe card.
• Tea tray: Darjeeling plus an infuser and a brew card ("85 to 90°C, 3 to 4 minutes"). More ideas in gifts for tea lovers.
• Kitchen and bath: tea + curry leaves + soap, or just give the Diwali Gift Box. Keep the soap wrapped separately so the tea doesn't take on its scent.

Diwali gifts in Melbourne

We pack every order in Truganina, in Melbourne's west. Diwali orders open until Sunday 8 November. Delivery is usually 1 to 3 business days after dispatch. Prefer to collect? We offer pickup in Truganina by arrangement. Message us before you order so we can agree a time.

The $35 gift pack (includes moringa powder)

If the person also wants moringa powder, our gift pack at $35 includes 100g moringa powder, 100g Darjeeling, 30g dried curry leaves and a 95g handmade soap. Say "includes moringa powder" on the card. For most Diwali gift ideas that skip powder, stick with the $20 box above.

Why pantry gifts beat leftover mithai

By the second week of the festival most homes already have more barfi and ladoo than anyone can finish. A pouch of dried curry leaves or a pouch of Darjeeling disappears into real routines (tadka for dal, a mid-afternoon cup) instead of waiting for a special occasion that never comes. Pantry staples also travel well and don't melt in warm weather.

Who each gift suits

• Home cook: dried curry leaves, or snack jars from the friends gifts guide.
• Tea drinker: Darjeeling 100g, see Darjeeling buying guide or gifts for tea lovers.
• Host / household: the $20 Diwali Gift Box (no moringa powder).
• Coworker / neighbour: any single pouch under $10 with a short note.
• Someone who already has sweets: the $20 box, or soap + tea as a clean swap for another mithai box.
